CBD for chronic pain is a game changer. I know because CBD changed my life, and I encourage anyone struggling with pain to try CBD for their chronic pain. Let me tell you why.
I’ve struggled with chronic pain for over two decades. It started with a car accident in high school, and I didn’t realize my life was about to change when a Jeep Wrangler came hurling toward my car at 60mph.
Since then, I’ve struggled with pain. My pain effects my mood, my stress levels, and my sleep. Can you relate?

A study by the Institute of Medicine of The National Academies found that 100 million Americans suffer from chronic pain, proving that this is a national epidemic.
In other words, chronic pain affects more Americans than diabetes, heart disease, and cancer combined.
According to the National Institute of Health, one in 10 Americans experiences pain every day for three months.
And over 1.5 billion people worldwide suffer from chronic pain.
The four most common types of chronic pain are:
- Lower back (27%)
- Severe headaches or migraine pain (15%)
- Neck pain (15%)
- Facial pain (4%)
And it’s been shown more woman experience pain than men. As a woman, I cry foul!
The worst part about chronic pain is how it impacts one’s daily life:
- Almost 20% of Americans (or 42 million Americans) suffer from pain or discomfort while sleeping, according to the Sleep in America poll
- Nearly two-thirds of people with chronic pain have trouble sleeping, and insufficient sleep often worsens the pain. Thus, one finds oneself in a recurring cycle of pain and sleeplessness.
- 40% of Americans with chronic pain report that their pain impacts their overall enjoyment of life, including a change of mood and inability to sleep, work, and live their best life.
- 77% of people report feeling depressed due to chronic pain
There is no specific cure for chronic pain; some people may live with it forever.

However, one way to manage pain that has proven to work in multiple studies is CBD for pain. It has worked for me – let me tell you how!
Before I started using CBD to manage my pain, my doctor had me on a cocktail of prescription drugs from Oxy to Tramadol. I was a seventeen-year-old college student addicted to painkillers, and I used to walk around like a zombie due to grogginess or overdosing. As the pain worsened, I became more depressed until I discovered CBD, a natural, completely legal, plant-derived product that I could dose with more precision without fear of addiction.
IS CBD GOOD FOR PAIN?
Yes, CBD does help with the pain. When people hear CBD, they usually think of relaxation. However, other uses include CBD for chronic pain, CBD for pain management, CBD for anxiety, and CBD for sleep. For me, CBD and pain relief go hand-in-hand.
Here are four key reasons you should add CBD to your pain management routine:
CBD acts as an anti-inflammatory: CBD for pain helps reduce inflammation without the side effects of prescription painkillers that can damage one’s liver, kidneys, and stomach.
Research shows CBD can stop inflammation by activating CB2 receptors found in the endocannabinoid system, which oversees our immune system as a whole.
CBD acts as a muscle relaxer: Not only does CBD help with anti-inflammation, but CBD also acts as a muscle relaxer to help with muscle pain, muscle soreness, and muscle spasm.
Many doctors have prescribed me muscle relaxers that leave me dizzy and foggy-headed. But with CBD, I can manage my dose (or use a topical) to ensure I’m taking the right amount of CBD for my body to leave me energetic and ready to conquer the day.
CBD helps with sleep: Research has shown that CBD can reduce insomnia in people with chronic pain. When my pain levels flare up, I struggle to sleep. When not getting enough sleep, I find that I’m not only cranky but also in pain—taking CBD one hour before bed helps me fall into a deep sleep.
CBD for depression: Many people who suffer from chronic pain also deal with depression. A study by Lauren Rayner puts that number at 60%! CBD has helped me take control of my life.
I’m not as anxious or stressed daily, which positively impacts my sleep and, thus, my pain levels. CBD has made me more energetic (better sleep and less pain) and more positive about my life.
